EXPRESSIONS AT A LAUNDRYMAT (LA LAVENDARIA) - 1972 London, England

Barboza performs the expression People tied together (also known as

Expressions at a laundry). The artist describes this event as follows "I was in the

space of the Action Space group with colored ribbons and I gave them to people

according to the color of their preference. Then I tied them with these ribbons

and we went down a ladder so tied , to walk to the laundry that was in the

corner. There I untied people, and in two washing machines we put the ribbons

to wash. Meanwhile we played music, we talked about art, what we thought

about what we were doing. Then we put the ribbons in the drier, because the

idea was that they were as they were before to make ties again and continue

walking through the Camden area. That is a very particular area because it is a

working area; there we bought things in stores, we went to a gas pump, and the

event ended at a bus station "
